Timing is everything

Sometimes I hate the fact that it's part of my style to take a ton of pictures.  So, I'll tell someone to start walking and I snap away like crazy.  The bad part is, when I get home, I have to go through hundreds and hundreds of pictures, zooming in on every one to make sure the eyes are in focus.  It takes a long time.  So when I take 2,500 pictures at a wedding, it takes hours and hours and hours to go through all those pictures and taking out the ones where the eyes aren't in focus.  Anyways, the good thing about snapping so many pictures is that it increases your chances of capturing something like this:

  • her foot off the ground
  • her glancing over
  • a tiny grin on her face
  • her hand touching that cedar tree

The shot before this and the shot after this aren't even close to being this good.  So when she walks 15 feet and I take 20 pictures, I get one good one.  I'm fine with that.  Ansel Adams said, "Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop."
